This funky, adjustable and Fair Trade belt is hand-embroidered by member of The Idna Ladies’ Association in the West Bank. Since the construction of the Separation Wall between Israel and the West Bank, Idna has seen devastating unemployment. The Wall’s trajectory runs through Idna, isolating the most fertile parts of the village’s agricultural area and underground water.
The Idna Ladies’ Association provides vital income to its 45 members; very often these women generate the only source of income for the household. The traditional Palestinian cross-stitch technique is used on this cotton adjustable belt with metal buckle.
